I grew up in Beccles also, now living in Phoenix, Arizona.  I miss the good old days there and go home to see family still in Beccles once a year.  Could not believe there is now a huge Tesco where William Clowes used to be!!!  Looks alot cleaner i must say though.

I go home about once a year also. Great to see Beccles and the area. It still looks the same to me, except  the Tesco store! Love Southwold and Halesworth.

Hi,

I also grew up in Beccles and just recently moved to Texas from living in Mildenhall for the past few years. Great to see I'm not the only one reading the Beccles and Bugay journal online overseas.

Does anyone else miss the snow? It gets really cold here at this time of the year, but no snow! 72 here yesterday! I see it is snowing today in Suffolk.

I used to live in the Northeast (Rochester and Ithaca, NY) so now it doesn't count as snow if it's less than six inches deep :-)
Down here in boring old Plano, Texas we have 'dandruff' once every couple of years.
The high today is supposed to be 82 and it's not April yet.

Hi,

Im lived in Beccles for over 20years also, Grove Road...I now live in Naples Florida and go home once a year...It's weird seeing a huge Tesco where the printing works used to be.  I really loved living in Beccles, such a nice atmosphere and great people there.

Yes the Tesco is a shock (I was visiting when they were building it). They also seem to built on ANY bit of land---Beccles'll soon be continuous with Lowestoft!

I am reading this sitting in my office overlooking the Tasman sea in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Any further South and you will fall of the earth.

Susan I lived right around the corner from you on Marsh View, mum and dad are still there, my kids went back for 5 weeks to stay with their dad (we are divorced) they had a blast but it rained almost every day!!  I have been in Arizona for 7.5 yrs now and love the desert with not much rain and constant sunshine. I couldnt go home this year had to work, but next year for sure, I need my fix of home once a year, miss Beccles and all the fun times we had there.  I remember your name but cannot picture your face LOL.  They have made Grove Road into one way only but the wrong way!!  Figures huh!!

And June does your last name end in 'F' (maiden name if your married) did your Dad work at William Clowes, and did I last bump into you in the Commissary on Lakenheath AFB??  Small world if that is you LOL.  My first name is 'Stella'.

Hi Susan, i lived at number 8, my mum and dad are the Wilkinsons, they have been there for coming up to around 30 years now i think wow time flies!!  I totally remember your name but cannot place your face, my name was Stella Wilkinson.  I worked at Fibrenyle starting off at the one on Station road, then moved up to Ellough, left there in 1989 and went to work at M&H until i left Beccles in 97 and moved to Thetford, divorced my then hubby Ron Hogg and got married a few years later to my now hubby and the airforce brought us to sunny arizona!!  Have now been here for 7 1/2 years and love it, gets a little toasty but hey very little rain!!  In fact i find myself wanting it to rain, how ironic is that LOL.  I have 3 children Gemma nearly 16 arghhh, and Craig now 13 and my baby Linden is nearly 5 and spoilt rotten.  I am going home in possibly late May or early June 08 as we have a wedding in the family, cannot wait to go home and visit.  I went to SJLH and left in 1983, Gemma went to Albert Pye for a short while.  I am loving it here in the States and dont miss the cold wet dreary weather at all, miss home though and family, we thought about moving back there but the house prices are crazy now, and i thought California was bad!!!
