Plans are being made to turn two more residential houses into children's care homes in rural locations in Suffolk.

Two applications have been made to Suffolk County Council for the homes, which will specialise in one-to-one children's care for a child aged 11 to 17, in the Beccles area and another near Debenham.

The sites, previously vacant homes, have been purchased for the purpose and run by care provider JMR Healthcare Ltd.

According to application documents, the children’s homes will replicate a loving family home, with the child and support staff operating effectively as a family, eating together and doing activities together.

One child will be cared for by two to four members of staff, and there will be no change to the character of the area, according to the plans.

Support staff will be responsible for cleaning, gardening, and cooking with the child, as well as encouragement to participate in positive activities in the community.

The plans follow the approval of three children's homes of a similar nature run by charity and care provider Break, two of which in the Bury St Edmunds area and one in Lowestoft.
