Suffolk is bracing for up to 70mph winds as Storm Isha is set to hit the country.

The Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for Suffolk ahead of the strong winds and rain that are set to batter the whole of the UK.

The warning is in place from 12 noon on Sunday, January 21 to 12 noon on Monday, January 22.

The Met Office has warned that some buildings could suffer damage, such as tiles blown from roofs, with injuries and danger to life from flying debris possible.

"Strong winds associated with Storm Isha are expected to develop widely across the UK on Sunday, persisting into Monday across parts of England and Wales," reads the warning.

"Within the warning area, many places are likely to see southwesterly winds gusting to around 50-60 mph, with some gusts reaching 60-70 mph for exposed locations (e.g. coasts).

"There remains a chance of stronger winds impacting parts of this area for a time but this aspect remains uncertain with further updates to the warning to be expected over the coming days."

Large waves and beach material is expected to be thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties, with some roads and bridges closed.

Power cuts could also occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.

Drivers are being encouraged to avoid exposed roads and slow their speeds.

The Orwell Bridge may have a speed limit in place or close in extreme circumstances.
