A charitable trust has taken over a community centre, ensuring continued support and expanded offerings for people in the area.

Access Community Trust has been announced as the official custodian of the Beccles Waveney Centre, taking over the daily operations and introducing a new team to cater to the community's needs.

The Waveney Centre, located centrally in Ballygate, has long served as a vital community hub for the older people in Beccles and nearby areas.

Over the past year, Access has worked closely with the outgoing committee, learning about the customers' requirements.

This transition will lead to an expanded offering from the venue, ensuring its longevity and ongoing support for local residents.

A spokesman for the outgoing committee, said: "This is an exciting new chapter for the centre, Access already operates a similar venue in Lowestoft.

"They understand the need and challenges for the sector and are best placed to build on the success of this vibrant hub for our community”.
