A clean-up operation has been completed on the A146 between Beccles and Norwich following an oil spill.
Norfolk County Council issued a warning this morning urging drivers to take extra care on the northbound road from Beccles to the County Hall roundabout.
A council spokesman said the incident was believed to have been caused by a bus which was leaking diesel along the 17-mile route.
She said the areas affected the most were Loddon, Yelverton and Hellington.
Highway engineers were sent out to put up signs alerting drivers and spread grit to soak up the diesel.
The spokesman said they are now happy with the condition of the road.
“The work has been completed and so far everything looks fine,” she said. “The team are now going out to inspect the roads again to check if there are still any spillages that still need looking at.”
Norfolk Police were alerted to the incident at 9.20am this morning, and officers were called out to the A146 at Trowse where they put a cordon in place until the highways team arrived.
