A special community information event has been organised for residents to find out more about the broad range of support and advice available to them.

The event will take place at the Kirkley Centre, in Lowestoft, on Thursday, February 1.

Residents will be offered the chance to meet local groups and organisations who provide a range of support, information and health services.

Free health checks will also be available.

Stephen Ardley, Waveney District Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for communities, labelled the event “an excellent opportunity”.

He said: “Residents can find out more about the wealth of support and information available locally to help with both physical and mental wellbeing, social isolation, employment and more.”

Kareena Chapman, Kirkley Centre manager said: “We’re delighted that the Kirkley Centre is hosting this community event.

“Many voluntary groups and charities use the centre on a daily basis and it will be exciting to see them and many others in the same place at the same time.

“Community Action Suffolk recognises that partnership working and networking is vital to help local organisations serve our local residents.

“I’d encourage anyone living locally to pop in see the range of available support and to meet some great people.”

Advice and support on mental health will be available from Access Community Trust, Age UK Suffolk, Anglia Care Trust, Alzheimer’s Society, Befriending Scheme, Catalyst Counselling, Clinks Care Farm, DIAL Disability Advice, Erasmus Foundation, Great Yarmouth and Waveney Mind, Healthwatch Suffolk, Mencap, NHS Wellbeing, NESCAB, Purple Rose Life Centre, Right Time Counselling, Saxon Road Day Care Ltd, Suffolk Family Carers, Surviving United, Waveney Domestic Violence & Abuse Forum, Gyros, Suffolk Police and Turning Point.

The event takes place between 10am and 2pm.
