Five children still in hospital after horror crash

Five children remain in hospital today after being injured in a horrific accident when a car mounted the pavement and ploughed into them.

Police said that nine children and one adult were injured when the car collided with them in Worlingham, near Beccles, yesterday afternoon.

Police said that nine children and one adult were injured when the car collided with them in Worlingham, near Beccles, yesterday afternoon.

A class of Year 5 pupils from Worlingham Middle School were on a supervised walk around the village when the incident happened shortly before 2pm.

A Suffolk police spokeswoman today said that three children taken to Beccles Hospital were discharged yesterday.

Three children taken to the James Paget University Hospital at Gorleston remain in hospital.

Three children and an adult man were taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The adult and one child have been discharged, while two children remain in hospital.

A 40-year-old woman from Lowestoft who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving has been released on police bail and is due to return to Lowestoft police station on November 6.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about the crash to contact PC Paul Carr of the serious collision investigation team on 01473 613500.
