A Suffolk lodge marked 300 years of Freemasonry in England with a kind-hearted gesture to help a swimming club for disabled people.
The Lodge of Prudence of Halesworth Masons presented Pisces Swimming Club with a wet wheelchair at Leiston Leisure Centre.
Ollie Fordham, the Lodge’s Worshipful Master, said “To mark the anniversary we wanted to donate something tangible, not simply a cash amount.
“We reached out to local charities and asked them if there was something specific they wanted, so that each item could become a symbol of our Tercentenary and labelled as presented by the Freemasons of Suffolk.
“For centuries the charitable work of Freemasons has been relatively understated, as we prefer to do it without publicising it too much.
“However, as it is the 300th anniversary we wanted to do something to celebrate and show our predecessors how proud we are of them.”
