The Gorleston woman who died in a motorcycle crash with her husband was a manager at the James Paget University Hospital and had worked there for more than 25 years.

Sharon Cooper, 56, and John Cooper, 58 died when their Harley Davidson motorbike was in collision with a Landrover Freelander in Scotland on Sunday.

Mrs Cooper joined the James Paget University Hospital in January 1991, as a part-time catering assistant. She became an assistant food services supervisor before transferring into an administration role within the breast imaging team.

In December 2004, she became a trainee plaster technician, working in the orthopaedic outpatients’ department with close links to A&E.

In 2007, she qualified as a plaster technician and was then promoted to plaster services manager at the hospital in October 2016.

Paying tribute the hospital’s deputy chief executive Anna Hills said: “We informed staff this morning about this sad and shocking news. Sharon worked at our hospital for more than 25 years and was a highly regarded member of staff who was dedicated to her work and popular with her colleagues.

“She will be sadly missed - and our thoughts are with Sharon and John’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
