The Lowestoft branch of a fast-food chain has been forced to close its doors after running out of a somewhat vital ingredient.

KFC announced on Saturday via its official Twitter account that many of its restaurants would be closed after experiencing ‘teething problems’ with its new delivery partner DHL.

Hundreds of branches across the UK and Ireland have now been left without their customary supply of chicken, an issue which has affected the popular Lowestoft store on Marine Parade.

The statement from the fried chicken heavyweight said they were not prepared to ‘compromise on quality’, adding that some restaurants would be operating a limited menu or shortened hours.

Information about the open branches is available on the KFC website, but the Lowestoft store is omitted from the list.

When asked about the current closure of the Lowestoft branch, a KFC spokesman said: “As per the statement that was issued at the weekend, problems with our delivery partner have forced many of our restaurants to close.

“Many stores are open as normal today and you can find a list on the KFC website. We are hoping to update the list later today, although there is no clear indication as to when the closed stores will reopen.

“We are certainly keeping staff posted on any developments.”
