A 1,000 In Case of Emergency (ICE) card and key-ring sets have been printed and designed by Wangford Veterinary Clinic to offer security to both pets and their owners.

The idea, supported by Halesworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, is that in an emergency the key-ring will alert emergency services to look in the owner’s wallet making them aware of the fact that there are animals at home that need to be cared for.

On the card there is space for information to be added of the people to be contacted to care for the pet.

Walter Stohr, practice owner, said: “We all have to leave our pets at home sometimes even if it’s only to go the shops.

“So what would happen to them if something happened to you while you were out?

“You can’t put a value on having peace of mind knowing that your pets would be looked after.”

The ICE cards and key-rings are available from the clinic free of charge for clients and for a £1 donation for non-clients.

Every 60p of each £1 donated will go towards the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
