Police are urging witnesses to come forward after a crash left a man with potentially life-changing injuries and seriously injured a woman.

Officers were called just before 1.50pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, February 15) to reports of a two-vehicle collision between a black BMW 118 and a black Mercedes C180 in Reydon, near Southwold.

The incident occurred on the A1095 Halesworth Road, near to the Adnams distribution centre and Old Hall Farm.

Ambulance and fire crews attended the scene, with the latter working for more than an hour to free both drivers who were trapped in their vehicles.

The male driver of the BMW was subsequently flown by air ambulance to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with injuries which are described as potentially life-changing.

The female driver of the Mercedes sustained suspected pelvic injuries and was taken to James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston for treatment.

Officers closed the A1095 at the junction with the A12 while a collision investigation took place, but the road has since reopened.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101, quoting reference CAD 214 of February 15.
