Dozens of residents have learnt to save a life after a defibrillator was installed in a Suffolk village.

The device has been installed at The Rumburgh Buck, near Halesworth, following fundraising by the pub.

Members of the public were taught cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to use a defibrillator on April 12.

It came as community first responders (CFR) from Rumburgh, Beccles, Bungay, Wisset and Lowestoft helped unveil the community public access defibrillator, which is on the wall of pub.

It was funded by a collection box on the bar and funds from a May day event.

The defibrillator is available if someone collapses and goes into cardiac arrest. If someone dials 999, an ambulance call handler will give an access code for the cabinet.

Andy Mower, Waveney CFR trainer, said: “Community access defibrillators in rural locations are vital pieces of equipment that are much needed and the increase in these is very much welcomed.”
