Clinks Care Farm, in Toft Monks, near Beccles, has been named 14th in Britain’s New Radicals - a countdown by the Observer newspaper and the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (Nesta) of the organisations that are changing the country for the better.

Doeke Dobma, who runs the farm, said: “The reason for this unique recognition is our contribution and innovative approach, through the model of care farming, improving the quality of lives of people in our community.

“It is the innovative approach combining the care of the land with the care of people, using the farm environment to aid the recovery of people suffering from mental health issues, providing meaningful day activities for people with early onset of dementia, therapeutic activities for people with learning disabilities and people recovering from brain injuries.”

The farm also offers respite from carers and is part of a Farming on Prescription pilot project.

The awards will be celebrated in a ceremony in London on Thursday, March 1.
