I can still remember when the announcement came through that Norwich was to be one of a handful of places to benefit from millions of pounds of cash designed to improve cycling routes in the city.

Boxing could do with any bad press right now. Dodgy judging at massive world title fights, freak shows between gold-encrusted fighters who should know better, and celebrities who think the ability to remain fit and throw a punch entitles them to be called pro boxers.

I should go on holiday more often. When I left these shores two weeks ago the effects of two thumping away defeats were weighing heavily on the pre-season positivity of most Canary fans and there were even dire predictions of a season battling relegation doing the rounds on social media.

So the thing is, with this week’s column I really wanted to get to the heart of such a crucial issue. That’s what I hope, so that when it comes to the crunch and we all think about what things could look like, with our partisan specs and love for the game, which is a really good game of course…
