Bungay Town 2, Wymondham Town 0

Two first half goals saw the Bungay bandwagon roll on as they avenged a narrow defeat at Wymondham in January on Saturday.

The visitors fielded a very young side who showed some good touches but never seriously tested home keeper Brandon Ling, who kept a fifth clean sheet in six games.

The Black Dogs have not conceded a goal from open play in those six – the only goal came from a penalty.

Bungay got in the first shot of the game after three minutes, but Corey Thurston’s shot was wide.

Jack Child put a shot wide and then set up Alex Shreeve for a good chance, but the keeper blocked his shot and a defender cleared his follow-up off the line.

The break for the Black Dogs came in the 32nd minute as they were awarded a penalty.

Shreeve converted the spot kick for his 15th goal of the season.

Eight minutes later it was 2-0 as the lively Charlie McAra cut in from the left, evading two defenders before firing past the keeper.

Before the interval Tom Leuenberger had a shot cleared off the line.

The second half also lacked significant goalmouth action, though Shreeve turned his man well to get in a shot that lacked power, and Child had a great chance after Shreeve set him up but he delayed his shot too long.

Sammy Allen was unlucky as his close range shot was blocked, while both Adam Bray and Leuenberger had shots saved.

Bungay: B Ling, O Alexander, J Wightman, J Williams, A Bray, J Child, T Leuenberger (S Allen), C Thurston (A Martens), J Dance (M Allen), C McAra (T Leuenberger), A Shreeve (J Dance).

The previous Tuesday Bungay had visited Norwich United U21s and triumphed 2-0 with Corey Thruston and Charlie McAra on target.

On Saturday Bungay visit Sprowston Athletic, 2.30pm.
