Another reduced programme as Norfolk & Suffolk Youth League heads for winter break

PUBLISHED: 09:43 22 December 2017

Archant

The wintry weather played havoc with Norfolk & Suffolk Youth League for the second weekend running, with over 100 league and cup fixtures being postponed.

However, some players knew how to keep themselves warm - by scoring goals - and Jack and Oscar did just that for Corton Owls who are playing their first season in the league.

Corton joined this year with two teams and everyone at the league wishes them well for what will hopefully the first of many seasons.

Alfie kept warm for Ormesby Lads with his goal and no doubt the Kirkley & Pakefield parents kept their hands warm by applauding Cody’s goal for the Kings.

There were goals galore in the Under 14 Division One match as goals from Harry, two from Adam and, three from Jenson gave the Jaguars of Waveney plenty to cheer about. There was also a hat-trick from James for the Kestrels as they lost 10-3.

The Panthers of Kirkley & Pakefield returned the short distance home with three points in Under 14 Division One after a seven-goal victory at the Meerkats of Waveney.

Only one match survived in the Under 16 cup and through to the next round are the Tigers of Waveney after their 11-0 defeat of the Bees of Beccles Town.

Fot goals and excitement a nine-goal thriller under 15 division one match was the place to be as the Wildcats of Kirkley & Pakefield lost at home 5-4 to Loddon in what must have been the match of the day.

Finally it was raining goals at AC Mill Lane who hosted Martham in under 14 division two and the Martham players certainly turned up with their goalscoring boots on.

There was a goal from Jack, two from Aquelino, a hat-trick for William and four from George while going one better with five was Haydn.

Finally booking their place in the next round of the Under-12 Cup weere the Cobras of Kirkley and Pakefield who returned home from Ormesby with a resounding 6-0 victory.

The league will now close for Christmas and New Year and enjoy a two-week rest with the fixtures resuming on Sunday, January 7.

Officials of the Norfolk & Suffolk Youth League wish everyone a great Christmas and a superb fixture-laden New Year!
