Sunday saw the first cross-country meeting of the 2014/2015 Suffolk Winter League set around the picturesque Castle Meadow, Framlingham.
Sailors enjoyed the penultimate series D races in high water and a strong south westerly breeze on the Waveney on Saturday. Richard Baylis was able to set a beat at each end of the full course with a long fetch. A good start had Tim Revell in his Laser Windy Bottom first to the windward mark with Rory Kelsey in Tankard pointing high close behind. Folkard was out after an early death roll while a superb double gybe kept Kelsey out of trouble. Revell was first to take the bell but was second on corrected time to Kelsey with Rowan Curtis third. Winds eased for race two which suited Simon Strode and Julie Walker in their Enterprise Amelia as they put in a perfect performance. Meanwhile Curtis and Folkard were having a close race but after 35 minutes Curtis finished 15 seconds ahead remaining two points clear on the leaderboard.
Topcroft Cricket Club held their end of season dinner at Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club.
Beccles Rugby Club has won the Suffolk Community Foundation Working Together Award for their work with school children within the local schools in and around Beccles.
