Bungay recorded a well deserved win at Happisburgh in the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League.

Despite losing the toss Bungay were asked to bowl first on a very green wicket. It took just two balls for Teddy Mattocks to dismiss the dangerous Sturgess with an impressive bouncer which was hooked straight to Michael Ling.

Callum Clark also took an early wicket from the opposite end, but this only brought the free scoring Allen and Woolston to the crease. The two rapidly elevated the hosts score to 90 before Allen ran out his partner and soon after was caught and bowled by the pick of the bowlers Charlie Mattocks (3-12).

Further wickets for Fuller, H Ling and Steve Thomson-Friend meant that Happisburgh could only manage a total of 144 in 29 overs.

Bungay’s innings got off to an assured start, Fuller and C Mattocks regularly finding the boundary before Fuller (27) was well caught off the bowling of Currie and R Ling followed him back to the pavilion in the same over.

Mattocks reached his half century before he skied one and was well caught off the bowling of the pacy Warnes. Warnes then went on to claim the wickets of J Clark (11), Steve Thomson-Friend (0) and Steve Ling (2).

So it was left to A Flood (10 not out) and Teddy Mattocks (24 not out) to put the game to bed in the 29th over. Bungay travel to Bradfield on Sunday looking to push themselves further up the table.

Topcroft B travelled to Great Yarmouth A on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

Stand-in skipper Andy Adcock won the toss and decided to have a bowl. Jamie Reeder bowled well whileat the other end Luke Wheeler soon removed the top three with a good spell of 3-11.

Luke Bettridge also bowled well, taking one for nine for five overs, and Topcroft rolled through the Great Yarmouth lower order with Ian Bettridge taking 3-4 and young all rounder Josh Etteridge 3-9 as the hosts finished on 54.

Alfie James dominated the bowling scoring a quick fire 43 not out ably supported by Etteridge who was unbeaten on 11 not out.

They plays Blundeston on Saturday.

Topcroft Under-13s beat Beccles Under-13s by six wickets after chasing 55 in 4.4 overs.

Lee Ellis contributed figures of three for four and 30 retired not out while Rhys James took two for 10.
