11:03 22 February 2012

The county Under-15 team continued their winning run in the Shires League with an excellent 15-5 victory over Lincolnshire.

They started the match with a clean sweep in the four mixed doubles, but then Lincs won three of the four boys singles, Norfolk’s victory coming from Dominic Ely who played well to take his match 22-20 in the third end. The girls completely overpowered the opposition taking all their singles and doubles, whilst Ely and Ben Page won two for the boys against strong Lincs opposition.

Representing Norfolk were Dominic Ely, Ben Page, Ben Sharman, Tom Boardman, Jacob Trend, Kathryn Adamson, Georgia Moyes, Lauren Mortimer and Kate Sawyer. The senior second string found life more difficult in the latest round of the Inter County Regional Championships with the Nottinghamshire third team completing the double over them with a 10-5 victory.

The singles and mens doubles were shared, with Luke Cox and Holly Bowen winning their singles and James Ruthen and Chris Piff and Mike Philpott and Paul Daynes taking one doubles apiece. But then the match ran away from Norfolk, who lost all four womens doubles and then two of the three mixed, Norfolk’s win coming from Daynes and Katie Ruthen.

Representing Norfolk were Mike Philpott, Paul Daynes, James Ruthen, Cris Piff, Luke Cox, Lucy Curran, Katie Ruthen, Holly Bowen and Amy Sharman.
