Norwich heavyweight Sam Sexton overcame a bad cut to record a vital victory at York Hall, Bethnal Green, late on Friday night.
The 27-year-old is desperate to get back in contention for a domestic title and the clash with Larry ‘The War Machine’ Olubamiwo was being billed as a winner takes all – with nothing for the beaten man.
Sexton looked to be in control during the early rounds, but his hopes suffered a setback when he suffered a cut in the fourth round after a clash of heads between the fighters.
With the injury worsening the referee’s card was consulted after the bout was halted – and Sexton was awarded the verdict 49-48 on a five-round technical decision.
Victory takes Sexton’s record to 15 wins and two defeats on 17 outings.

ref abraham comment, yeah i would take him on at his weight,i see him spar weekly,he is very very slow and a very defensive fighter,he will never go anywhere,he will only fight no bodys or old irish cab drivers like rogan, tyson fury would win no problem,he would win on points every time, sexton far to defensive and not a big puncher,,
