BUNGAY’s Anglian Combination Division Two game at home to Aylsham on Saturday was postponed because of the weather – a pattern repeated across the local football scene due to the freezing conditions.

This Saturday the Black Dogs are due to travel to Mundford for their league fixture – but once again the wintry conditions could see Bungay without a fixture.

Division rivals Beccles Caxton are due to host Foulsham, while in the Premier Division title-chasing Acle United will hope to make the trip to Beccles Town, while Loddon United travel to second-placed Cromer Town.

• Barsham were due to play on the new “all weather playing surface” at Centre Point, Barnards Meadow.

It was called off by the owners due to the approach road and surrounding paths being too slippery for spectators, although the pitch itself could have been playable with any snow being cleared with a tractor and blower. This week Barsham entertain Norton at Beef Meadow (2pm).

• Both Beccles first and reserve teams had their games postponed last Saturday. Hempnall called off the first team game very early on and the committee for Beccles was forced to postpone their reserve encounter against Hoveton Wherrymen. Hopefully the weather will have improved tomorrow when the first team are scheduled to play Acle United in the Premier Division, while the reserves travel to Mulbarton to play the Wanderers.
