Langley School and Harleston Magpies Hockey Club are delighted to report that, building on their already close links, they have formed an association to promote the development of hockey within the school and the club by way of coaching and the sharing of facilities.  
Harleston Magpies, which since 2007 has been awarded Clubs 1s t status by England Hockey as part of Sport England Clubmark, offers the keen hockey students at Langley an outstanding opportunity to further develop and diversify their skills while at the same time opening up new opportunities. Recently four Langley students, Victoria Findlay, Toby Price, Anna Tighe and Tom Yallop, have taken advantage of this coaching to progress in England Hockey’s Single System development programme. These students all competed against 60 of the most talented youngsters within their age groups throughout the East of England over two weekends in September with Toby Price progressing to the next stage by being selected for the Saxon Tigers team to compete in the

A Bungay Black Dog Running Club trip to take on the annual Mablethorpe Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday almost left its 19 runners plus supporters stranded 30 miles short of the start line when the coach on which they were travelling suffered a puncture en route.

Police today welcomed a job well done as their “most challenging” match of the season at Carrow Road passed with relatively few arrests.

There were sporadic skirmishes before and after the top-of-the-table Norwich City v Leeds United clash, but Supt Jim Smerdon of Norfolk Police said officers were “on top of the situation”.
