Waveney Valley Athletic Club’s juniors have continued their busy winter programme of Sportshall League action.
First up in Suffolk were Waveney’s U13 athletes who continued their dominant display from round one with the boys winning convincingly, with second placef Ipswich JAFFA some 69 points adrift.
Not to be outdone, the girls won too, with Beccles and Bungay Harriers a further 42 points behind in second.
In action for the boys Joel Burgess, Nathan Littlejohns, Ben Cone and Vaughan Beckham recorded first and second places in almost every event. Waveney’s second team consisting of Seth Frankland, William Butcher and Bobbi Batts also put in some great performances for third place.
Waveney’s girls Amber English, Isabella Christmas-Ablett, Kiera Kane and Gabby Wright, like the boys, took victory in each event competed, with plenty of second and third places too.
Waveney’s U11s also shone, with the boys also matching their round one victory with another strong display with 444 points with Ipswich Northgate 12 points behind in second. Again, Waveney’s second team showrf great strength in depth to finish third — above the first teams from Stowmarket, Ipswich Jaffa and Beccles and Bungay.
Liam Bridges, Thomas Supple, Alfie Caplin, Jude Benson-Smith, Harrison Butcher, Wilf Gouldby, Josh Brabben, Reuben Colbridge and Ben Littlejohns were in action for Waveney’s two teams, with Jude, Alfie, Thomas and Liam claiming individual victories.
Waveney’s girls finished fourth, mainly due to being unable to compete in all events due to not having a full team. However Agatha Gouldby, Ruby Benson-Smith and Anna Colbridge performed well, with Agatha taking two individual victories.
Tom Spurgeon was in U15 action, finishing the day in third place, but claiming a win in the speedbounce, with Abeni Beckham and Abi MacKenzie Websdale in action for the girls with strong third and fourth places.
The final Suffolk league fixture takes place tomorrow with high hopes for a series wins and medals for all of Waveney’s teams.
