The Dell Nursing Home - Possible Closure

PUBLISHED: 13:04 14 December 2017

Hi , I saw the front page of the B and B Journal last week and was interested to see that “The Dell” is one of many the Suffolk County Council and considering for closure in March 2011. Whilst the Beccles Council is considering its position on this, could I ask whether you are aware of any other concern within the Community,. i.e the staff, Management of the Dell, Friends of the Del, local Doctors at the Hospital and Health Centre who are relatively so near, relatives of those in the Dell. What about the Churches views? I wonder, as The Dell is located in the most northern tip of Suffolk, serving a large catchment area, why local folk might be willing to let it slip away, without a whimper or strong protest. It obviously serves a need, are its occupancy rates too low, or en suite standards poor etc Has the Health CommissionSCC Inspection Body recommended it for closure as poor standards – no Does it provide good facilities for those who reside there? Is there good staffing and facilities to enable staff to do a good job – it is believed to be so Are the costs to high, but what is too high and if the unit closes where do those who “enjoy safe and cared for facilities “go to. And also their relatives what implications are their for them if their relative is moved. Moving elderly from their established facility is never a good idea , whether or not we are at home or in a Care Facility. Christmas and then the New Year approaches and then the decision will have been made Is it time for someone to take the lead, do some more research and ask the question, why The Dell and why Beccles! Did David Frost and Martin Bell originate from Beccles amongst other well known persons Is the Dell Run by Suffolk CC or a Private Group – are staff awaiting for Redundancy payments or just awaiting their fate by the Powers that be? Maybe this is not for you, but I saw you name, and thought, maybe…………………… Regards Gary McCarroll
