A town council has given its seal of approval to plans to repair a collapsing Broads river bank and improve nearby park facilities.

Beccles Town Council has approved the works to repair the river at Waveney Meadow at Puddingmoor at a cost of £27,640.

This is part of a joint project with Beccles Townlands Charity to revamp Waveney Meadow, which has play equipment on it.

The project has also had financial support from East Suffolk Council by way of £22,000 of Community Infrastructure Levy being collected from housing developers to support community facilities in the area.

The plans include replacing the play equipment, installing a new path down to the river and some enhancements to the planting at the site.

The town council is required to apply for planning permission from Broads Authority for these works.

But before it does that, the town council is asking for the public's views on the proposals.

It is urging members of the public to submit their opinions on its website: becclestowncouncil.gov.uk/waveney-meadow/
