Beccles Library is temporarily relocating to a former bank building in the town as major improvements works are carried out.

The temporary move to the former HSBC building is to enable substantial building work to be carried out.

The library will be open until Monday, September 4 and will then close to customers for the rest of that week, before reopening on Monday, September 11 in the former HSBC building.

This is located a short distance up the road in New Market off Sheepgate, next to Boots.

The library will operate from this temporary home for at least eight weeks.

The improvement work at Beccles Library involves replacing the entire roof and all external windows and doors in the main public library area.

While in its temporary location, the intention is to offer as full a service as possible with books and other library items available as well as computer access.

The library will continue to offer its full schedule of events and activities with table tennis the only one which will not be running.

Suffolk Libraries has said it apologises for any inconvenience caused by the work.

Any loans due back during the time of the closure will be extended and no overdue fines will be issued.
