A Haddiscoe couple is set to walk from Land's End to John O’Groats for a cause close to their hearts.

Lisa and Marcus Sutton are taking on the 1,000 mile trek in a bid to raise money for Diabetes UK.

Lisa was diagnosed with type one Diabetes last year.

She said: "It was a bit of a shock at the age of 54.

"The NHS support was outstanding.

"I now inject insulin everyday as my body no longer produces it.

"Insulin is essential as it coverts carbohydrates and sugars into energy."

The fundraising is being supported by Lisa's mother, Sheila Chaskin, who collected more £400 from members of various clubs she is part of in Belton and Burgh Castle.

Lisa said: "Having grown up in Belton I know how lovely the villagers are, but times are tough too.

"Diabetes touches so many people and Diabetes UK are working towards a world where diabetes does no harm.

"This money will help them so much."

The duo start their walk April 23 and aim to finish by July 17.
