A man was arrested and is due to appear in court after Suffolk police pursued a suspected stolen car.

Police received a call that a blue Ford Fiesta had been stolen from Westleton, a village along the A12, at 4.20pm on March 27.

Officers traced the car, which was travelling at Blythburgh, and ordered the driver to stop but they did not.

Police continued to follow the vehicle to Walberswick when at 5.20pm, an hour after the car was reported stolen, they made the arrest at a car park on the seafront.

He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Yusuf Al Majarhi, 28, of Edward Road in the Walthamstow area of London, has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent; failing to stop for police; driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

He has been bailed to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 1 concerning the incident on March 27.
