MANUFACTURING businesses in the Waveney area are invited to attend a workshop next week.

Waveney District Council, in partnership with the Institute of Manufacturing and Cambridge University, is supporting a delivery performance workshop for manufacturing businesses.

The event takes place on Wednesday at OrbisEnergy in Wilde Street, Lowestoft, and focuses on issues of fundamental importance to manufacturing businesses.

It will show local companies how to perform better and will help senior managers to understand what is required to successfully shape the business to deliver customer requirements, minimise lead time, improve the accuracy of delivery promises, and select and manage suppliers.

It will also show managers how to minimise the cost to serve customers and build flexibility into the process to cope with changes in demand and unexpected events, and allow them to sign up for a place on a fully funded manufacturing mentoring programme for small manufacturing companies.

The event will be delivered by Dr Alan Cousens, industrial fellow at the Institute for Manufacturing. It will also include funding and training advice from business support and training organisations.

The workshop, which includes refreshments, has been subsidised by the Higher Education Funding Council for England and is offered to attendees at 30 + VAT.

Eligible manufacturing businesses include those employing up to 250 employees.

Bookings can be made via e-mail jg393@cam.ac.uk or by phoning 01223 748260. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Waveney District Council's Economic Regeneration Team by emailing economicregen@waveney.gov.uk.
