THE cold climate has meant the Tidy Towns team has been busy with the additional tasks of clearing snow and gritting council-run car parks.
They were therefore very pleased to receive just three reports of fly-tipping this week.
However, some pet owners continue to let the side down, with dog fouling a huge issue.
Mike Daniels, Waveney Norse's cleansing service manager said: 'We are pleased to report that there have been just three incidents of fly-tipping this week. In Bungay, we collected an armchair and television stand from Garden Close. In Beccles, bags of waste were dumped at Ingate and a second armchair was retrieved from a roadside verge in Henstead.
'Conversely, a community-minded resident in Bungay has braved the icy conditions and spent time cleaning up fly-tipping in his local area.
'He has cleared numerous items from Meadow Road in the town and we will be assisting him, by taking away the rubbish he has collected. We would like to thank him for his efforts.'
'If this has inspired you to conduct a local clean up or community litter-pick, do let us know. We can provide all the equipment you would need and will assist with the removal of the waste when you have finished.
'Dog fouling remains an issue in the area with a number of reports coming in that people are still not cleaning up after their dogs.'
To report an issue or organise a tidy-up in your area email Mike.Daniels@ncsgrp.co.uk or telephone the Tidy Towns hotline on 01502 527158.
