After three-and-a-half years of playing, exploring and experimenting, Bungay artist Jacqueline Croft is preparing for a one-woman exhibition.

Mrs Croft, who was born in Bungay and has now settled back in the town, will be presenting an eclectic mix of local landscapes and natural scenes inspired by the Waveney Valley.

The exhibition, which will be held at the Fisher Theatre Gallery, opens today and runs until Saturday, September 10.

Mrs Croft has previously had work featured in a group exhibition organised by The Trading Art Company in the town, and after meeting Jan Hughes, the theatre’s exhibition’s coordinator, she was invited to stage her own show.

Mrs Croft only took up art three and a half years ago, and after attending a course with her husband she was encouraged by the tutor to take her work further. After she retired from a career in administration and management, Mrs Croft decided to enrolled for further workshops.

She said: “I enjoy exploring and developing ideas. I set no rules I just go for it.”

Mrs Croft, who learns by playing and watching YouTube demonstrations, works in oils, watercolour and pen and ink.

She said: “I’m still exploring, I like experimenting and learning.

“I do know what I don’t like - I can’t get the gist of acrylics at all.”

She works from a newly-refurbished studio at her home and uses the natural world as inspiration for her work.

Entry to the exhibition is free and can be viewed from 10am to 3pm Monday to Saturday, and again from 6pm on show nights. To check opening times contact the theatre on 01986 897130.
