Kulture Shock is continuing its run of bringing high profile guests to Beccles by welcoming acclaimed comedian, actress and author Francesca Martinez to the town.

The science fiction collectables shop on Blyburgate is hosting an evening of conversation and chat with the stand-up, who has been named as one of Britain’s most influential women, at The Waveney House Hotel.

Miss Martinez was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was two-years-old and her parents were told that she would never lead a ‘normal’ life. Despite this, she had a happy childhood until high school when she became an “insecure wreck”.

Salvation came from Grange Hill, a stand-up comedy workshop, and a passionate love affair replete with scintillating conversation. She will be talking about her acclaimed autobiography What the **** is Normal?! - a celebration and exploration of learning to be happy with who you are.

Tickets to the event, on Monday, May 25 at 7.30pm, cost £10 and includes a copy of her book. And Miss Martinez will be staying around after the talk to do a meet and greet.

The event follows on from a series of talks and book signings at various community venues organised by Kulture Shock, including politician and Strictly Come Dancing alumni Ann Widdecombe, Punk singer Toyah Wilcox and actor and comedian Nigel Planer.

Tickets are available from Kulture Shock, by calling 01502 712922 or visit www.kultureshock.co.uk.
