And Blythburgh was a hive of activity earlier this month as hundreds of people enjoyed a day of celebration.

The village's annual community event – Celebrating Blythburgh – took place on Sunday, July 9. An open-air service started proceedings as people gathered in the ruins of Blythburgh's 12th century priory for a service led by the Rev Malcolm Doney.

David Tytler, chairman of Blythburgh with Bulcamp and Hinton Parish Council, said: 'It was another lovely day. At least 160 people came to the garden throughout the day – it was a great turnout. We are very lucky as each year the weather has been superb.'

Parishioners and visitors enjoyed a range of activities with the focal point for the free event being a party in the Priory garden. Events, including a dog show, treasure hunt, river walk and guided tour of the ruins were all held along with free boat trips on the River Blyth, provided by Natural England. With live music throughout the afternoon, Celebrating Blythburgh is supported by the Blythburgh Latitude Trust and Blythburgh with Bulcamp and Hinton Parish Council.
