Christmas shoppers in Beccles will have the chance to hunt for gifts under the splendour of the towns glistening Christmas lights with Beccles shops preparing to host their first late-night shopping experience.

More than 75 businesses have already signed up to take part in the event, which is aimed at drawing more visitors into the town.

A spokesman from Beccles Business and Tourism Association said: “We are excited that all the businesses in Beccles have come together and are opening for the first late-night shopping Christmas event in Beccles.

“This is your opportunity to see the beautiful shops with their festive decorated windows and what goods the shops have to offer, immerse yourself in a family day out under the lights.

“For any more information please visit the ‘visit Beccles’ website / Facebook pages.

“Trains will be running late in either direction of both Lowestoft and Halesworth / Ipswich, so there are many ways to visit the town without driving so you can enjoy a glass or two of mulled wine.”

The late-night event is on Thursday, December 1, between 4pm and 8pm with businesses excited to be taking part and many unique deals being launched for the event at the start of Advent.

Amanda Godfrey, co-owner of Twyford's, said: “To kick off your Christmas spirit we are offering a festive high tea at a price of £14.95.

“The high tea will include sausage rolls, turkey sandwiches, mince pies and marmalade cider, this will feature alongside our normal menu.

“We cannot wait to see so many people in Beccles enjoying the Christmas atmosphere at the late-night shopping event."
