The owners of a 'loving' cocker spaniel with deformed front legs have been told by vets their beloved pet has one or two years at best to live unless money is found for operations.

In order to give their dog Jaxson the best chance of living a normal life, owners Bekki Woolnough and Eren Mustafa have launched a GoFundme campaign for the one-year-old pet.

Mrs Woolnough, from Beccles,  said: "We have seen two different local vets who have said he will be lucky to make it to the end of this year without any further intervention.

"They have recommended Jaxson needs to be referred to Fitzpatrick Referrals for surgery on both elbows.

"He can’t walk very far at the moment but of course being a spaniel he is still full of life, has plenty of energy and loves being outside.

"Anyone that has met Jaxson will tell you how happy, friendly, loving and sociable he is and we want nothing more than for him to have the best life possible for as long as possible."

Mrs Woolnough is full of concern and says the reality if Jaxson doesn't get the treatment he needs is 'traumatic' for both her and her partner.

She said: "Jaxson is such a wonderful dog, so kind and loving. It is traumatic for us to hear his potential fate and it hurts so much.

"We have been in and out of the vets with him since we had him as a puppy and he just wants and deserves to live a normal life.

"He would love to be able to walk, run and play with other dogs."

The couple has been quoted a figure of around £14,000 for both legs to be operated on, including CT scan prices and a consultation.

Mrs Woolnolugh added: "I know this is such a huge amount of money to try and find but Jaxson is everything to us and is 100% worth it if it gets us closer to easing his pain and giving him a better life.

"We would be really grateful for any sum of money we can scrape together because it would be a massive help.

"He means the world to us and are so grateful to anybody who donates."
