A local professional actor and director is calling for people to come forward and tell 'spooky' tales in aid of his latest theatre venture.

Thom Bailey, who many will have seen last Christmas in his starring role as one of the Ugly Sisters in Beccles Public Hall’s pantomime, is working in collaboration with the Arts Council and several local venues.

Mr Bailey will be collecting stories from local people to create his new stage show for 2023.

Mr Bailey is particularly keen to hear people's paranormal tales, spooky or occurrences or interactions with the unknown.

It comes after data from the 2021 census shows Bungay to have the highest number of 'devil worshipping' Satanists in the UK.

He said: “As an east coast actor, born and bred, I have always been interested in the local tales which are so embedded in our culture here in Norfolk and Suffolk.

"Things like Black Shuck are so well known and have made their way into lots of works of music and drama.

"I thought it would be really great to capture some of the other newer stories
which I know people will have.

"I want to hear the ghostly experiences that people are talking about today and use those to make a whole new storytelling show for our area.

"I never thought this dream would come true, but with the support of the Arts
Council and my partner venues, I am so lucky to be able to make this all come to life.

"So, if anyone has a great story to tell from our locality, please do come along or drop
me a message.”
