The owners of a campsite on the Norfolk Broads have plans to expand and refurbish ahead of a "busy boating season" starting in April.

Jee Jackson and Mark Willingham, who own Loddon Marina Caravan and Camping in Bridge Street, hope the works will help bring more people into the town.

They are now waiting for the Broads Authority to approve plans to build a shower block and toilet facility at the campsite as part of the scheme.

Mr Jackson said: "We took over a year last April and we are refurbishing the whole place.

"We are also repairing the marina so we can get more boats in here, meaning more visitors, to the area.

"We are also tidying up parts of the staithe to make the area tidier."

Mr Jackson said the parish council baked the plans because Broads tourism was crucial for the area's businesses.

He said: "They see our success as a way to bring in more people to the town.

"With more people in the town means all of the businesses here can benefit.

"We see it as a positive move through the connectivity of the marina to support the village."

The campsite owners hope to be ready for the first week of April when the boating season comes into full swing.

Mr Jackson said: "Our campsite is open all year round. The boating season's busy period is from April to October.

"Something which we are really excited about, but yet to have secured official paperwork is boats for day hire.

"We think this will be a great addition for when the season is underway."

The site has space for tents, caravans, motorhomes and small campervans, and it also has electric hookups.
