From sheepskin coats, commentating on that Jeremy Goss goal one night in Munich to being stumped by a Great Yarmouth teaser, John Motson brought football to millions of homes for more than 50 years.
Motty - the unmistakeable voice of football - died at the age of 77 on Thursday.
With his long sheepskin coat becoming almost as synonymous as his legendary one liners, the Bungay factory that made his trademark sheepskin coats closed after 168 years in 2014.
Nursey of Bungay, who also made coats for David Jason as Del Boy in BBC comedy Only Fools And Horses, closed due to falling sales.
Famed for commentating on so many iconic football moments - including Norwich City's 1993 Uefa Cup run and arguably the greatest victory in their history at Bayern Munich, which sparked his "unbelievable stuff" quote - Motson grew up in west Suffolk and went to Culford School.
Renowned as a walking encyclopedia of football history and statistics, it was a first-ever visit to Great Yarmouth in October 2010 that saw Motty stumped.
Ahead of a special talk and sporting dinner organised by Great Yarmouth Town FC, Motson and former Hereford player Ricky George visited the Wellesley Road stand that dates back to 1892 and is the oldest football stand in the world.
But Motson was unaware of the stand's place in the history books.
Speaking to the EDP and Great Yarmouth Mercury in 2010, Motson said: "Ricky acquainted me with the fact that Yarmouth had the oldest football stand in the world on the way here - I didn't know that previously, you learn something every day.
"I covered many Canaries' matches down the years for Match of the Day.
"The main memory I have got is the club's European run when Norwich won 2-1 against Bayern Munich in the Olympic Stadium.
"I covered the second leg and two or three of the European matches before they went out to Inter Milan."
Expressing condolences today, Norwich City tweeted: "All at Norwich City would like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends of John Motson.
"The voice of football for many, and someone who will be sadly missed."
