Waveney Foodbank, which supports 12,000 people, has received a donation of £300 from the Bungay branch of the Labour Party.
Part of the money was raised at a quiz at Bungay's Emmanuel Rooms, which was sponsored by Labour.
Six teams participated in the quiz, which was won by a team called Timothy Tight Pants after a tightly-fought contest.
Matthew Scade, the food bank's project manager, said: "The foodbank is currently supporting about 12,000 people."
"That means we need about 2,000 kilograms of food a week to meet the demand.
"This donation will go a long way to helping families in need, and we are grateful to the Labour Party and their supporters for this generous support."
Harley Harrison, chair of the town's Labour branch, said: "Important community services like foodbanks have seen demand rocket over the last couple of years.
"They need our support because many local families are struggling to make ends meet during this cost-of-living crisis."
