There is no better way to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday than spending a few hours supporting local producers at a nearby market.

From fresh fruit and vegetables to local meats, markets across the county really do have something for everyone.

Here are some of the best markets in Suffolk that are worth a visit.

Lavenham Farmers' Market

Held on the fourth Sunday of every month, this market was named as the best farmers' market in the UK in 2022

Beccles Farmers’ Market

Running for more than 20 years, the market brings fresh produce direct from local farmers.

Taking place on the first and third Saturday of every month, the market boasts about 30 stalls - making it one of the biggest undercover rural markets in the country.

Organisers are committed to ensuring its stallholders are all based within a maximum of a 30-mile radius.

Sudbury Farmers' Market

This market takes place right the middle of Sudbury town centre.

Expect to find local meats, homemade pies, regional cheeses, homebaked cakes and freshly-grown produce.

Bury St Edmunds Farmers' Market

While walking round the market you will be able to buy freshly baked local bread, regional honey, homemade pies and savouries, delicious cakes and fudge and locally distilled gins.

Wyken Farmers’ Market

Dubbed one of the top 10 farmers’ markets in the country by The Times, the market runs every Saturday between 9am and 1pm.

Located at Wyken Vineyard near Bury St Edmunds, it showcases local butchers, fishmongers, cured meat and cheese delicatessens, fruit and veg, ales, and chocolatiers.
