A town's third Pride event is set to welcome attendees with "bigger and better" plans in store.

Bungay Pride is to be held at the Castle Bailey in the Suffolk market town on Saturday, July 15, with organiser Leon Bedwell keen for people to "feel comfortable" in themselves and celebrate individuality.

They said: "It is a really important event and date for the diary.

"The past few years we have run the event have been great successes and there have been such good responses from people.

"The event will showcase the great community here in the town, the fact that we are welcoming and modern.

"We want to bring joy and for people to have fun, while standing together united.

"In today's society, it is important for people to feel comfortable in their skin and be proud of who they are and what they stand for."

The town's first ever-pride event was held at the same location in 2021 with more than 150 people attending, and it has "grown and grown" from there.

Traditions from the first event remain, such as the bake-off and an outfit competition, but drag performers from Norwich will be there to put on a show.

The organiser said: "Each year we have grown and grown and it is really positive, gradually more and more people feel more comfortable in their skin.

"We hope that our event is a positive for the people in the town, but it is not just exclusive to the people of Bungay, please come along and enjoy the bigger and better event.

"There will be music, drag performers from Norwich putting on a display, and food available from Bigod Kitchen, they have urged people to book in a booking should they plan to come.

"If not they will be open as usual. We hope to see as many people down here for a fabulous day."

It runs from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
