An application has been filed to sell alcohol and late-night refreshments at a planned new town centre store.

A building that used to house a cafe and flower shop in Halesworth's Market Place has been empty for a number of years.

But there could be a new lease of life for the building, as Algorial Retail Ltd has applied to East Suffolk Council for licensing permission to sell alcohol every day there.

The applicant, Algorial Retail Ltd, owns a string of off-licenses and convenience stores across the country, and they wish to call the business 'Halesworth Local'.

The notice appeared online and was listed on the shop front yesterday (August 23) and the closing date for any representations on the licence application must be made by September 19.

Representations must be made in writing to the Licensing Team, East Suffolk Council (as the Licensing Authority) or by e-mail to licensing@eastsuffolk.gov.uk

The address of the building is 27 Market Place, Halesworth, IP19 8AY.

The applicant was approached for comment, but this paper did not receive a response.
