A Norfolk woman celebrated her landmark 100th birthday with a surprise party arranged by friends and family in her care home.

Georgina Mary Neale, who likes to be known as Jean, partied at Beauchamp House in Chedgrave, near Loddon, with loved ones and the performance of an entertainer and singer.

Her family say are proud of her, describing the 100-year-old as "an inspiration", "tough", "caring" and "fun".

They also said that it was "important" that she was honoured with a big party at the care home to celebrate her remarkable life and personality.

Mrs Neale says the secret to a long life is to live for her family as nothing matters more than family.

She lived in Costessey all her life until recent years when she moved into Beauchamp House residential home in the south Norfolk village of Chedgrave.

Mrs Neale's favourite meal is fish and chips, she adores them so much her loved ones simply refer to her as 'Chips'.

She started work at the age of 14 at Caleys Chocolate Factory in the display department, where her hands were used to hold the box of chocolates for the display photos.

Mrs Neale is twice widowed, first married to George Moon at the age of 18 and then she remarried at the age of 79 to Donald Neale.

Beauchamp House provides short-term and full-time care and support, including specialist care and support for people living with dementia.
