A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol following a fatal crash at Earsham, near Bungay.  

It follows the man, who is from the Ipswich area, being earlier arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving over the incident, which happened on Sunday, October 1 at about 8pm.

The arrested man had been driving a silver Mitsubishi, which collided with a black Ford S Max. He was taken to hospital with a leg injury, where he remains receiving treatment. Police said he would be questioned in custody once he is discharged.

The driver of the Ford, a man in his 40s, died following the crash. The A143 was closed overnight while investigations were carried out.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash or either vehicle before the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage.

Witnesses are asked to contact Norfolk Police on 101 and ask to speak to the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting CAD reference 442 of the 1st October 2023.
