A market town has released plans for its Christmas lights switch-on event which will be full of circus fun and Victorian characters.

Bungay will be transported back to Victorian times at its Christmas circus-themed lights switch on event taking place on November 25 from 3pm to 7.30pm.

A children’s circus activity wonderland will take place at St Mary’s Church and Father Christmas has promised to come along.

At the Buttercross there will be musical entertainment including a brass band, carol singing and pantomime characters as the lights are switched on.

Frances Betts, the mayor of Bungay, said: “This family-friendly event helps generate a wonderful festive atmosphere in Bungay, while also creating more footfall and spending for shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and other businesses in the town.”

To encourage people to shop locally there will be a window competition trail and artisan gift stalls in Cross Street.

The local food and drink court will feature Green Dragon beer and potent mulled wine from Imperial Wine.

Maisebrook Farm will be providing barbecue food and there will be a hog roast.
