A man is in a critical condition in hospital and five men have been arrested following an assault outside a pub. 

The victim in his 50s suffered serious head injuries in the attack near the Kings Head pub on Bridge Street in Loddon at around 9.30pm last night (November 10).

The man was taken by ambulance to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he is in a critical condition.

Five men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and are being questioned at Wymondham police station.

Loddon Kebab and Pizza, Happy Buddah and Limmy's Plaice takeaway were all closed off behind the cordon. 

Philip Taylor, landlord of The King's Head, told the BBC the incident had taken place soon after he'd asked a group of people to leave his beer garden.

The King's Head remains open. 

A large number of emergency services vehicles, including the air ambulance, were called to the scene on Friday night.
