This amazing photo captures a rare moment of life and death between a cormorant and a pike.

Paul Farrow, of Beccles Camera Club, happened to see the bird swoop down and attempt to grab the young pike as he was walking along Ellingham Mill.

Mr Farrow grabbed his camera and took the shot when he saw the cormorant wrestling with the pike in the River Waveney.

He said the pike slapped the cormorant a few times with its tail and managed to live another day.

"Nature never fails to amaze me, these beautiful moments," Mr Farrow said.

"It happens right on the doorstep and most of the time you won't see it unfold, so when you can capture these rare moments it is special."

Cormorants have been known to eat pike, but do struggle to eat them as they are large fish and the birds have to swallow them whole.
