A village's 16th century pub has reopened its doors under new management.

The Fox in Shadingfield, near Beccles, has been taken over by Adam Huxtable who said the opportunity to take on the business was "too good to miss".

"When I was approached to take the pub on I couldn't believe it, it was a really exciting breakthrough opportunity.

"We have a big project on our hands to stamp our mark on the place and I am relishing the challenge and looking forward to when things have taken more shape," Mr Huxtable, 40, said.

Mr Huxtable, who is "Beccles born and bred", also owns a brewing company called BecclesBrewco, which he launched in 2018.

The pub landlord says he has visions of operating his brewery from the pub one day.

"One day I would like to move the brewery to the pub, but won't be for a little while as we have more pressing things to sort out at the moment.

"But I do sell my beer here already and it is so rewarding seeing people drinking my beer, now in my pub, it puts a smile on my face and I hope the beer puts one on theirs too.

"For now the brewery will stay where it is as things are absolutely fine, and obviously it is a matter of one step at a time.

"But the village itself is really nice, there is a lovely community here, the place is very pretty, quiet and we are really happy to be here," Mr Huxtable said.

The pub has teamed up with Liam Bone who runs his own catering business 'Down to the Bone'.

Mr Bone will run the kitchen of the pub which accepts bookings and walk-ins.

Mr Huxtable is being helped out with the organisation and management of the pub by his parents Kevin and Angie Huxtable.
