the Bungay of the future is to be explored at a Visioning Day at the Fisher Theatre on Sunday.

The event will give everyone

the opportunity go along and express their opinions on what they want for the future of their town.

The day has been organised by the new Bungay Community Partnership with support from Waveney District Council, Bungay Town Council, Waveney Community Forum and the Bungay Town Trust.

Between 10am and 5pm, people can drop into the theatre for a chat and post up their visions for the future on the wide range of topics that concern them, including proposals for a new one-way system, a new children's play

park and the new community centre.

Comments are being invited on issues ranging from town centre shopping to parking, employment, health and education, oppor-tunities for young people, tourism, and how Bungay can move forward in a sustainable - economically, environmentally and socially-conscious - way.

Businesses will be asked what they would like for the future, and Bungay's neighbouring villages will be invited to have their say on what they would like for their market town.

The Visioning Day is the first stage of a lengthy community consultation that will result in a new Town Plan for Bungay.

Bungay Town Reeve Martin Evans said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to discover just what the people of Bungay want for the future, and we hope that everyone will take a few minutes to pop into the Fisher to pop up a Post-it or two."

The exercise will provide Bungay Community Partnership with information on what people want to see happening in

the town in the next five, 10 or 15 years.

The boards for visitors' messages will cover a wide range of topics - all important for Bungay's future - including Building & Housing, Shopping, Young People, the Elderly, Education, Work and Training, Traffic and Roads, Sustainability, Green Spaces, plus a special board asking people to identify Bungay's trouble-spots, whether they are areas prone to flooding or vandalism, poor lighting or safety.

Armed with a pad of sticky notes, people can pop their comments on the boards saying what they would like to see for the future under each topic.

The comments will be used by the Community Partnership Steering Group to form the basis of the second stage of the consultation, which will be a questionnaire for every house-hold in Bungay, the youth associations, a sample of Bungay businesses and a sample of households in Bungay's neighbouring villages.

Town crier Les Knowles will be out and about over the weekend publicising the event and encouraging as many people as possible to go along to the theatre and take part.

Funding for the Visioning Day has come from a variety of sources, including Bungay Town Council and Waveney District Council.
